    Thailand Privilege Entry Visa (PE)

Thailand Elite Visa — Thailand Privilege Visa Guide

The Thailand Elite Visa, now also known as the Thailand Privilege Visa, is the longest multi-entry visa available in the Kingdom of Thailand — 5 to 20 years of effortless residency for Thailand Privilege Card members.

What Is the Thailand Elite Visa (Thailand Privilege Visa)?

The Thailand Elite Visa — officially the Privilege Entry Visa (PE) and also commonly called the Thailand Privilege Visa — is a special long-term visa available exclusively to Thailand Elite members. Categorised under Tourist Visa, it grants legal residency in the Kingdom of Thailand for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years depending on your chosen membership tier.

The Thailand Elite Visa is a multi-entry visa renewable for the duration of your membership, with an extendable 1-year length of stay per each entry. Thailand Elite members enjoy uninterrupted residency in Thailand without the usual need to leave the country every 60–90 days, and benefit from fast-track immigration on every arrival.

Whether you call it the Thailand Elite Visa, Thai Elite Visa, Thailand Privilege Visa, or Thailand Privilege Entry Visa — it is the same official long-stay visa, issued through the same Thailand Elite program. With over 40,000 members from more than 50 countries, Thailand Elite is the first and most established residency-by-membership program in Asia.

Thailand Elite Visa & Thailand Privilege Visa — Two Names, One Program

Many applicants ask whether the Thailand Elite Visa and the Thailand Privilege Visa are the same thing. The short answer is yes — both names refer to the exact same long-stay visa, issued under the same official program. Here is how the names fit together.

    Program brand

Thailand Elite — the long-running program name, recognised worldwide since 2003 and still the most commonly used reference for members, agents and the press.

    Issuing entity

The visa itself is issued by the Thai Immigration Bureau. The membership and privilege card behind it are operated by Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. — a state enterprise under the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). Thailand Elite is the official sales & services channel.

    Visa names

Thailand Elite Visa and Thailand Privilege Visa are interchangeable names for the same visa. Some sources also call it the Thai Elite Visa or Thailand Privilege Entry Visa.

    Official visa category

Privilege Entry Visa (PE) — the legal visa class stamped in your passport by Thai Immigration. This is the technical name behind both brands.

In practice, every name points to the same multi-year residency visa, granted through Thailand Elite membership and issued by Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. — apply once, choose any of the names with confidence.

Duties of Thailand Elite Visa Holders

Once you are granted your Thailand Privilege Entry Visa, you have simplified obligations compared to other visa types.

    90-Day Reporting (TM47)

All foreigners in Thailand, including Thai Elite Visa holders, who stay more than 90 consecutive days must report their address every 90 days. The counter resets when you leave and re-enter Thailand. Thailand Elite staff can assist with the reporting in Bangkok (Sathorn Road head office, every Tuesday by 16:30), Pattaya, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. You can also report online, by mail, or in person at the nearest immigration office.

    Annual Stay Extension

Despite your Thailand Elite Visa validity of 5 years, each stay is limited to 1 year per entry. If you do not plan to travel outside Thailand during a full year, contact the Member Contact Center which will provide an official letter to extend your stay for another year. The process is straightforward — just a form to complete with the letter and your passport. You can extend up to 30 days before your stamp expires.

Can I Work with a Thailand Elite Visa?

The Thailand Privilege Entry Visa is categorised under Tourist Visa, so it does not directly allow you to obtain a work permit. However, if your business and income are earned overseas, you can hold a Thai Elite Visa while managing your affairs remotely. You can be a shareholder or director of a Thai registered company, but you cannot be actively employed in this role.

If you need a work permit, you can apply for a Non-Immigrant B visa separately — your Thailand Elite Visa remains valid until its expiry. Certain members may also qualify for the Flexible Plus program which allows conversion of the PE Visa to a Non-Immigrant visa for work permit purposes. Consult with our team for specific guidance based on your situation.

The visa is valid for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years depending on your Thailand Elite membership tier — Bronze (5 years), Gold (5 years renewable), Platinum (10 years), Diamond (15 years) and Reserve (20 years, by invitation). It is multi-entry, with a renewable 1-year length of stay per entry, and renews for free until your membership expires.

Thailand Elite memberships start at THB 650,000 (about USD 18,000) for the Bronze 5-year tier and go up to THB 5,000,000 for the Reserve 20-year tier. The cost is a one-time membership fee — there are no annual renewal fees and the visa itself is included. See our Memberships page for the current tier breakdown.

How do I obtain a Thailand Elite Visa?

If your business and income are overseas, you can hold a Thai Elite Visa and manage your affairs remotely. You can be a shareholder or director of a Thai company but cannot be actively employed. A separate Non-Immigrant B visa can be obtained for work, and certain members may qualify for the Flexible Plus program which allows conversion to a Non-Immigrant visa for work-permit purposes.

Can my family also get a Thailand Privilege Visa?

Yes. Several Thailand Privilege Card tiers (Gold Family, Platinum Family, Diamond Family, Reserve) include dependant memberships for a spouse, parents and children, each of whom receives their own Thailand Privilege Visa under the same conditions as the primary member.
