How to Renew Your Thai Driving License as a Thailand Privilege Member

Renewing your Thai driving license is a straightforward process for Thailand Privilege members — especially with access to the Elite Personal Liaison (EPL) service. This guide covers every document you need and what to expect at the Department of Land Transport.

    Required Documents for Renewal

Before booking your appointment, prepare the following documents. Thailand Privilege's CRM Section will review your file to confirm everything is in order.

    1. Valid Thailand Privilege Visa

Your visa must have at least 45 days of remaining validity at the time of your appointment.

    2. Valid Passport

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Provide signed copies of:

    • First/bio-data page
    • Visa page
    • Most recent entry stamp
    • Extension stamp (if applicable)

Note: If your current Thai driving license was issued under a former passport, that former passport is also required.

    3. Residency Certificate

A residency certificate issued by either your embassy or the Immigration Bureau.

    • Embassy-issued certificates must be stamped and are valid for 365 days from the issue date.
    • Bangkok Immigration Bureau certificates are valid for 365 days from the issue date.
    • Certificates from immigration offices outside Bangkok have validity periods set by each respective bureau.

    4. Medical Certificate

Obtained from any clinic or hospital in Thailand. The certificate must contain two parts (doctor's part and patient's part) and confirm that the applicant is free from the following conditions:

    1. Leprosy
    2. Tuberculosis
    3. Drug addiction
    4. Alcoholism
    5. Elephantiasis
    6. Epilepsy

Important: The medical certificate is valid for 30 days from the issue date. Schedule your appointment accordingly.

    5. Current Thai Driving License

Your existing Thai driving license, along with a signed copy. Renewal is accepted if the license is still valid or expired by no more than one year.

    Before Booking Your Appointment

Once you have gathered all documents, send scanned copies to Thailand Privilege's CRM Section for a pre-check. This is mandatory for all members — even if you are not using the EPL service — to confirm your documents are complete and correctly prepared before any appointment is made.
